About Bluegrass Elite
You Don't Need Another Kentucky T-Shirt Company. You Need This One.
I'm Gary. Marine Corps veteran (MOS 6433, '97-'02). Gulf War. Kentucky native. Kentucky basketball and Cincinnati football fan since I could walk. Bourbon drinker. Small business owner.
And I started Bluegrass Elite because I was tired of watching fans wear cheap, mass-produced garbage that fades by March.
The Real Story
After I got out of the Corps in 2002, I came back to Kentucky—the state I'd missed every damn day overseas. The horses. The bourbon. The basketball. The football Saturdays. The way people here don't just watch sports, they live them.
But here's what pissed me off:
Every time I went to buy Kentucky or Cincinnati gear, I had two options:
- Corporate retail stores selling overpriced, logo-slapped crap designed in a boardroom by people who've never set foot in Lexington
- Amazon knockoffs that cost $12 and fall apart after three washes
Neither option gave a damn about Kentucky. About the culture. About the fans who wear this stuff 100+ times a year—not just on game day.
So in 2025, I did what Marines do: I handled it myself.
Bluegrass Elite isn't a side hustle. It's not passive income. It's not some dropshipping scheme run by a kid in his dorm room.
It's a Kentucky brand, built by a Kentucky veteran, for Kentucky fans who actually give a damn.
What Makes Us Different (And Why You Should Care)
1. We're Veteran-Owned—And It Shows
The standards I learned in the Marine Corps don't disappear. Quality isn't optional. Attention to detail isn't optional. Doing it right the first time isn't optional.
When you order from Bluegrass Elite, you're not getting some algorithm-generated design printed on the cheapest blank Alibaba could ship. You're getting gear made by someone who understands what earned pride looks like.
2. We Actually Live This Life
I'm not guessing what Kentucky fans want. I am a Kentucky fan.
I've watched every heartbreak. Every championship. Every overtime game that took years off my life. I've been to games in Lexington. I've tailgated on fall Saturdays. I've argued about bourbon with strangers at bars. I've driven past horse farms and felt that weird Kentucky pride you can't explain to outsiders.
Every design starts with one question: Would I actually wear this?
If the answer is "maybe" or "it's fine," it doesn't get made.
3. We Don't Do Mass Production
Everything here is made to order. That means when you buy a shirt, it gets printed fresh—for you. No warehouses full of inventory. No overstock sales. No "close enough" quality control.
It takes a few extra days. It costs me more. But it means every piece meets the standard.
4. This Is Anti-Corporate by Design
You won't find us in big-box stores. We won't sell out to some national retailer who wants to "expand the brand." We're not trying to be Fanatics.
Bluegrass Elite will always be:
- Small-batch
- Veteran-owned
- Kentucky-based
- Made for people who know the difference between casual fans and die-hards
If that doesn't matter to you, Amazon's got plenty of options.
What We Stand For
Authenticity Over Algorithm
Every design is inspired by real Kentucky culture—bourbon history, basketball legends, Cincinnati football pride, Red River Gorge sunsets. Not what some AI thinks will "trend" on TikTok.
Quality That Lasts
No cheap blanks. No cracked prints by February. No pilling after five washes. If it doesn't hold up to 100+ wears, it doesn't leave the shop.
Community Over Customers
You're not a transaction. You're part of a tribe of fans who wear Kentucky pride like a second skin. Tag us. Send photos. Tell us what you want. We're building this together.
Veteran Values
Discipline. Loyalty. Pride. The same values that got me through the Marines are baked into this business. When you support Bluegrass Elite, you support a veteran—not a faceless corporation.
Join the Tribe
Bluegrass Elite isn't for everyone.
It's not for casual fans who own one Kentucky shirt they wear twice a year.
It's not for people looking for the cheapest option (again, Amazon's over there).
It's not for anyone who thinks "good enough" is actually good enough.
But if you:
- Live and breathe Kentucky basketball and Cincinnati football year-round
- Actually know what "bourbon culture" means beyond a trendy Instagram post
- Want gear that lasts longer than a single season
- Believe supporting veteran-owned businesses matters
- Think Kentucky is more than just a place—it's a lifestyle

The Promise
Every order supports a USMC Veteran-Owned Kentucky small business.
No shareholders. No investors. No corporate HQ.
Just a Marine who came home, saw a need, and decided to fill it the right way.
You're not just buying a shirt. You're supporting someone who actually gives a damn.
Independently designed. Veteran-owned. Kentucky-based. Not affiliated with or endorsed by any professional team, university, or league. Just made by fans, for fans.
